This cheered me up no end!

Honeysuckle takes me back to my childhood! I was over the moon when I discovered that it was the mystery green plant growing right next to the kitchen window in our new house.

Visiting my grandma. 92 and advanced alzheimers, but still strong and happy and her most vivid memories are from when she was a child with her mam and dad.

Bit of a cheat today as I didn’t take this. Emily (6yo) asked to borrow my phone to take a picture “of the light” and gave it back to me exactly as it is here; I haven’t edited it in any way.

Heatwave!

So yesterday Daniel said “I think it’ll be very heavy rain today”. I scoffed because the sky looked like THIS (pic 1). Turns out he is much more realistic (pessimistic!) than me, not to mention ahead of the game. Because today looks like picture 2. And it’s the school summer fair. Thinking about it, I blame them.

Biggest cupcake in the world at the school summer fayre! And although the rain didn’t hold off it was so light, and the air so hot and sticky, it was actually very welcome!

Proud to be stood with our kids alongside their fabulous teaching assistants, protesting Durham County Council’s unethical treatment of Teaching Assistants. Sacking all of them and rehiring on worse terms (eg 23% pay cut). It’s just wrong.

Magic tricks

For Daniel’s 9th birthday we took him to Blue Reef Aquarium at Tynemouth. He had a fabulous day altogether, but was completely entranced by the seals.

My little bookworm

Flowers from mum, dad and brother for graduating. Arrived via Flying Flowers today and I’d highly recommend them, the flowers were in beautiful condition.

Library visit

Daniel spent his day off (actually for a cold not the teachers’ strike) making a paper city. It’s ENORMOUS.

Tree in Chester-le-Street. I liked how the overexposure gave it a misty feeling, then added a filter in Snapseed.

Sainsburys today. Used to annoy me how back to school signs were around before the end of the summer holidays – now there’s 2 weeks before the summer holidays even start! Talk about wishing your life away…

A detail on our house that I never noticed before, the brick (foundry? Is that right?) where our house bricks came from and the date – 1895. I love that about old houses, and I love that we own this house now and there’s so many little details like this we could come across.

Well, no doubt about today’s photo – I got this, my final module for my degree. Absolutely over the moon! :’-D

So, tricky one today. I got First class honours! But I don’t have a certificate to photograph. Our 8 year old was the wizard in the Wizard of Oz! But we can’t put that on social media because other people’s kids are in the photo. So here’s this one, pinching a biscuit before going out to the show. Spectating is hard work after all.
